SUVs are built on truck platforms and called body-on-frame construction type, and crossovers are built on a car platform, which is called a unibody type of construction.

Subcompact and compact crossovers offer two rows of seats, while mid-size crossovers offer three spacious rows that work beautifully for families. Most are front-wheel drive, so no new skills are required to learn to drive them. Some even have all-wheel drive with sophisticated traction management and are capable of light off-roading. Crossovers also tend to be more expensive than equivalent passenger cars. And minivans are still the best option for people with small kids as their sliding doors, three rows of seats, and other features make them super convenient.
